ARTISOFT'S SALES, NET INCOME AND EARNINGS PER SHARE AT
RECORD LEVELS IN QUARTER ENDED MARCH 31, 1992
(TUCSON, Ariz. -- April 16, 1992) -- Artisoft, Inc.
announced today that its sales, net income, and
earnings per share were at record levels for the three
months ended March 31, 1992, the third quarter of the
company's current fiscal year.
Sales for the period were $20,274,000, an increase of
96 percent over the $10,354,000 recorded in the same
quarter a year earlier.
Net income, at $3,588,000, was 71 percent above last
year's $2,098,000 for the same period. Per share
earnings for the 1992 quarter, at 21 cents, also a
record high, were 40 percent above the 15 cents
recorded a year earlier.
C. John Schoof II, Artisoft's President and CEO, said
the improved earnings were the result of a greater
penetration of Artisoft products in the local area
network market. He attributed the success to greater
appreciation of Artisoft products by buyers of
networking systems. During the quarter, Artisoft
introduced LANtastic(R) version 4.1, an improved
version of its award-winning LANtastic network
operating system.
In the first nine months of the 1992 fiscal year,
sales, net income and earnings per share have already
exceeded the levels achieved for all of fiscal 1991.
Sales for the nine months ended March 31, 1992, were
$51,787,000, an increase of 82 percent over the
$28,481,000 reported for the same nine months a year
earlier. Earnings for the first nine months, at
$8,999,000, were 90 percent above the $4,728,000
earned in the year earlier period. Earnings per share
for the current fiscal year to date were 55 cents
compared to 34 cents for the year earlier period.
Artisoft develops and manufactures a full line of
hardware and software for local area networks
including the LANtastic Local Area Network. The
LANtastic network is recognized as the leader in the
DOS-based peer-to-peer network market and has won
numerous industry awards for its cost-effective
